Argos has released its own budget tablet,
MyTablet. The launch of this comes just in time for Christmas shopping, and
this is what they planned. They wanted there to be a product that was not as
expensive as others, clearly not as high spec as others, but much more
affordable than others on the market as people the squeeze around the Christmas
period. As mentioned Argos know this is
not a high spec product that is going to dominate the whole market, but they
didn’t imagine that, they have aimed the product at the target market 8-13
years olds that are always nagging parent for a go on their tablet!
I think it’s a great idea and should
succeed, with it very competitive price, and potentially specification naive
target market its perfect. The product its self has a nice design, coming in a
variation of colours, and a sleek white face, with a generous 7in screen, its
ideal for small time games and social networking.
I think this may influence a trend for the
already established tablet market. With companies creating new higher spec
budget tablets for a wider target market.
