Entertainment - Monster Energy Call of Duty Promotion

Monster energy drink has partnered up with Call of Duty to promote both monster and the new Call of Duty: Ghosts game coming out in November 2013.  The promotion they are running is the packaging on the Monster cans themselves, customers who have bought the promotional cans will be able to enter competition draw, redeem downloadable content on Call of Duty: Ghosts as well as in game rewards like double XP.  To me this shows a great trend in the gaming world and how it can be further promoted with an energy drink product, that in a way is unrelated. The idea of this is to drive up the sales of Monster, with gamers wanting to be able to receive the ‘free’ rewards that come with purchasing the drink. These co-brand partnerships will allow this sale boom to happen, with the trend in gaming at a current high, more and more people want to play, and who doesn’t want something for ‘free’.  Personally I think it is a great idea, I drink energy drinks and play call of duty anyway, so this is just bonus for me and many other alike. This is not the first time a promotion like this a happened, but they are becoming more frequent as they seem to be very successful. I know that previously both Doritos and Mountain Dew have run promotions for video games.
I believe that this is a great idea, Monster have hit a gold mine, teaming up with a gaming franchise that is already huge, they are set to make a lot of money in the coming months.
