YouTube have recently announced that they
are going to host their very first music awards, voted by the viewers of
YouTube. This comes from the fact that music fans across the world have, over
the years, made YouTube the place to go for music online. As a way to give back
to the fans they are going to host a music award ceremony with the winners
voted by fans online, the show is also said to be powered by the audience. The
show has been put together so that YouTube can celebrate along side the fans of
their website and the music that they all love. They are even going to be live
stream across the world, with users being able to turn in wherever they are.
Allow them to post online on Facebook and twitter, get people talking about the
event, but more importantly get people talking about YouTube. But this all
starts from October 17th when YouTube will post the nominees across
social media, and getting the online excitement started early. With the users
then being able to vote online, and discuss and share with others, this is for
sure going to a big event. I expect this to been seen trending at the top of
worldwide trend on twitter, being included in Facebook status all over the
world. Yes I fully believe that YouTube are doing this to give back to the
viewers, the fans and the artist that upload to there website, but saying all
this they are set to take a giant boost in site visitors and online limelight.
Which can only be a bonus for them.
I believe the news of these awards only
reinforces what I talked about in a post last week, about how users are now
looking for a more online feel to their content. That the trend for online
content rather than original broadcast content has taken a real boost, and
through artist now being able to receive some commendation for this online
content, are being rewarded for their work.
So get online and check out the nominee
from the 17th October and then watch the whole even live from New
York on the 3rd of November!
