For the FHM December 2013 cover FHM have
gone old school to create the background for the Diana Vickers cover. When I
first saw the cover I thought that it was just created digitally as magazine
covers are these days, but it seem not.
In an article FHM have revealed how they
put this months FHM cover together. Artist Ged Palmer was commissioned by FHM
to hand paint the entire background from a blank canvas.
It seems that FHM wanted to go back to
basics to create something original and different from the conventional
Photoshoped covers they are so used to making.
I’m sure that the painted cover was in fact touched up in Photoshop, but
it still has a really nice style.
I think that it’s a great touch that they
have added and work great with the Diana Vickers’ shoot on the front where she
is holding a point can and brush, so it odes appear as if she may have painted
it her self. Its nice to see that they are trying something different, well
something from a long time ago, it works very nicely.
