So the newest edition to the Hunger Games
film series was released last week and just like the first film it has taken
the worldwide box office by storm. The film nearly managed to make £100 million
in its first weekend in the cinemas.
The film became the fourth highest grossing
first weekend box office total, just falling behind The Avengers, Iron Man 3
and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
The film also took 8% of its takings from
the IMAX theaters. I think this shows a great trend from the larger screened
films, as it is currently a big attraction. People go to the cinema to watch
something on the “big screen”, so why not watch it on an even bigger screen. I
think that there is a big market to further advertise the IMAX screens and what
exactly what they are, because I feel that not everyone know, or believes that
they are worth that much extra money on top of the regular cinema ticket price.
The production team for the Hunger Games
has decided to split the final book in the trilogy into a two-part film, this
is a great idea, a great way to make bucket loads of money. It worked perfectly
for both Harry Potter and Twilight.
I toughly enjoyed the new The Hunger Games:
Catching Fire film and I look forward to the final two films!
